This past week, a few coworkers and I hosted a bridal shower for one of our own. I chose the theme of black and white damask with apple green because it's the same theme as her wedding and while she chose to have a small, family ceremony, quite a few of the bridal shower attendees wouldn't be at the wedding.
I'm going to take the time to point out a few more details than I normally do. This shower was unique in the fact that quite a bit of the decor was transformed from Goodwill items. Let me show you how to throw a great shower on a budget.
Here is the food table. Side note, the long white tray holding the cheese straws came from Goodwill. Always great serving piece finds there!
I hung black fabric to block out the striped wallpaper. The damask "runner" was actually wrapping paper (available at Michaels). Let's go a little deeper into this table:
The 3 tiered stand. Made especially for this occasion. This was made by using 3 china plates and 2 coffee cups found at Goodwill. Find a dinner plate, a salad or dessert plate and a coffee plate. Stack them from largest to smallest with the cups in between like above. Glue each piece with E6000 glue.
To add a bit of interest for this theme, I added clear scrapbook flourish stickers. These were found at Target.
The cupcake stand consisted of a round piece of glass (leftover from a tabletop). Stacked on top are box frames. Just take the backing off and they make great risers. You'll see box frames often at Goodwill. The lettering "Celebrate to have and to hold" were scrapbook rub-ons found at Michaels. Use apples or other theme related items to elevate.
The large monogrammed frame featuring the couple's monogram. The frame was from Goodwill. The picture is deceiving because it looks like I printed the monogram on white paper. Not the case. The monogram is actually vinyl made with the Cricut. I added the white and damask paper so you could see the monogram and not the frame holder. The frame is actually meant to NOT have paper backing. When you hang the clear frame on the wall, the color on the wall shows through the glass. This is something that bride was given to take home.
Matchbook Mints. This is cardstock folded to resemble matchbooks with a single lifesaver wintergreen mint inside. These are available in my etsy shop to print yourself and fold. Super easy! The goblet was found at Goodwill.
One of the most commented on shower items was the white chocolate monograms. I'll be posting a how to on that soon! Stay tuned!
Moving on to the mantle:
Fur wreath ala Nester tutorial. The wreath form came from Goodwill. :) Center candlesticks came from Goodwill as well.
The two vases on either side were made from Goodwill and Dollar Tree items. Remember my tutorial about how to make those?
Wrapping paper again as the runner.
Center apples carried on the theme of flourish/damask with a "Love" phrase on the center apple. Again, a scrapbook rub-on.
Next up, the crunch and munch cones:
Yep, I make these every time. Maybe it's my trademark? LOL Every time people eat them. It's just a good thing for a shower that's in between meals. Good snack and you can carry it around easier than a plate. That pot has seen many cones and been many colors to match. No idea how many coats of colorful paint is on that thing. For this shower, I painted it white and added clear scrapbook flourish stickers. The cone, invitation and envelope wrap design is now available in my etsy shop.
And now, the gift table centerpiece. My mother actually gave me that glass piece a long time ago. I've used it many many times since. This time, I made a damask band around the bottom with wrapping paper. Then attached a bud vase to the center using mounting foam. Next, since whole apples wouldn't fit between the bud vase and the sides, I sliced the apples into halves. Filled the vase with one of the bride's favorite flowers - white tulips.

Lastly, I want to make a special mention of the plates and napkins used for this party. They were black and white damask and they were adorable and matched perfectly! I took the most horrible details shots of this shower and somehow ended up with very little good shots of the plates/napkins. These were provided by my newest blog partner, Plates and Napkins.
