You may have noticed that things have been slow around here last week. I was in Chicago at the BlogHer conference and then spent a few days in Ohio visiting relatives.
There were several parties surrounding BlogHer and of course, one hell of an expo hall with vendors. I took a few pictures while there and I'll post some of the fun event details in coming days.
First, are these floral arrangements from the Suave/Degree booth in the expo hall. The photos don't do them justice. As my friend Dianne says, "you and your fruit!" Yes, I love a fruit vase filler. Just can't help it.
While I'm not a huge fan of the color orange in general, I love the contrast of it with this red.
Of course, you've seen me post before about mixing halved fruit in with flowers. Here's another example:
Bake It Pretty makes me happy! Lots and lots of adorable accessories and confections to add to your baked goods such as these cupcake liners. And these adorable sugar buttons already made and ready for your desserts.
They have edible glitter and super cute straws like these:
I saw another fun ad for Balloon Time. They make the small disposable helium tanks that you can purchase at Target/Walmart etc. I love the concept of this and how it creates an underwater theme.
Also, look closely, click on the photo to see it larger, great idea how they turned some balloons on their sides to use their natural fish shape.
Event inspiration comes from many places. You could really take this one and run with it.
Of course, you've read that I'm headed to BlogHer this week! A
conference with over 1,000 bloggers means you have to have a LOT Of
marketing materials - business cards and the like.
Some of my twitter friends have joked with me that I'm old school
because I love paper products. I can't help it. I love stationary and
even business cards. I love looking at other people's business cards,
their design, etc.

These were designed by Jennifer of Nounces Designs. Remember her? She
one upped me on my airplane birthday party invitations? LOL Well,
Jennifer put together these cards for me and she's the person to go to
for cute graphic work.

Of course, BlogHer is a haven for technologically minded females (and males) and so there will be a lot of POKEN going on. LOL Sounds obscene, right? Well, POKEN is the newest way of sharing business information. It's a gadget business card, if you will.
They are super cute, mini gadgets. This is the panda poken:
The little poken has a "hand" that is a usb device. You load your information onto it.
When you meet someone you want to exchange information with, and they also have a poken, you touch your poken hands together for 1-2 seconds to swap information. The palms of the hands will flash when the swap is complete.
That's it. When you are finished, you can plug your poken back into your computer and see all your saved information. It's a electronic business card file.

One of my readers wrote in requesting ideas for a Moroccan themed event. She's hosting a shower for a friend and needed a bit of a visual to pull it together.
I turned this one over to my friend, Dianne of Colorblind Productions in the New Jersey and New York City areas. Dianne put together this inspiration board to get the ideas rolling of color schemes and decor used in a Moroccan theme occasion. From Dianne: "Opulent and rich are the operative words when you think of a Moroccan color scheme. The key is to transform the space to a sensual interior with the right decorating touches. Rich color palettes, luxurious appearing decorations, lighting and theme inspired favors. A major decor element that would immediately welcome the Moroccan theme would be a pavilion style tent or a grouping of smaller tents. Fill the room with the fragrance of dried rosebuds, cinnamon , ginger, cumin and citrus peels in glass bowls.
Alternatives to authentic Moroccan decor can be found in Indian brass work or spanish iron work. Even some South American pottery has equalities that embody the Moroccan theme. Think brass and gold finished items!"
To say that Dianne and her staff are multicultural experts would be a severe understatement. They are particularly adept at mixing cultures at weddings. A Chinese-Mexican wedding? sure What about Macedonian - Filipino? no problem! Puerto Rican - Syrian? easy!
