A simple display.

Ahhhh. West Elm.
There's something about West Elm that makes my heart smile.  I love their modern simplicity and clean lines.  And how it's chic, but not over the top.  And it's doable, ya know?  You don't necessarily have to have their products to create the look. (Don't tell them I said that.)

Perusing through the recent West Elm catalog, besides loving this look, I noticed the single length of ribbon in the upper right.  And having JUST received my very first holiday card of the season that very day, it was perfect timing to find reminder of a subtle way to display cards.  One single length of ribbon that matches your already existing DECOR... and not the holiday season.   I like it!

Leave it to West Elm to keep celebrating simple.

Let's move on to the OTHER November celebration that's looming a mere 22 days from now.

I ran across these amazing hand painted watercolor place cards from Jennifer Aitchison.
Such beautiful detail work and I love how watercolor lends itself to an amazing blending of colors just as you see in the fall.  I also love how the leaves are attached with a 3D tape, giving the card a bit of depth.

Cards come in a cream color as well if you need something to match a more traditional china.

Even I can get into this...

So, I'm no hippie.  It must be said.   I'm not into nature.  I don't garden.  I don't hike.  I'm not hugely into recycling.

My idea of camping is a hotel without room service.  There. I said it.

However, I can totally get into the fabulousness that is this paper.
What if... you sent someone an invitation and, after they attended your incredible soiree, they planted your invitation and it bloomed into FLOWERS!

How about that for a lasting impression?

The folks at Botanical Paperworks have done just that.  Gorgeous, handmade invitations and
low and behold, they turn into flowers! 

I don't care who you are, ya gotta be impressed by that!   :) 

Make your own storybook!

How to make . . .

Another great idea from Good Housekeeping.  (I gotta say GH is surprising me lately with fun ideas like these.)

Just spell out your message on a REAL scrabble game board.  You can put in the recipient's name or if it doesn't fit or you just want to do several cards at once, make a general "happy birthday" card.

Take a snapshot of the board and print it out where you usually take your photos (Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, etc.).  Tape the photo onto a blank folded notecard.   Maybe find an envelope in a shade that matches at color on your scrabble board for an extra pop of color.  And you're done!
