Love this monogram idea from DIY magazine.
For a beachy themed dinner....
spread sand onto a dinner plate and create a monogram using a fork or the eraser end of a pencil.
Next carefully place a clear glass plate on the top for eating.
At the end of the meal, brush the sand off and wash the plates.
I love how the sand creates another texture and color element to the table!
A beautiful summery lemon party found at All that is Sweet in Life! A nice party for girlfriends or would make a gorgeous Mother's Day party for your friends, bridal shower or birthday.
Lemon curd favors!
As a major fan of Goodwill, I love this idea!
Two ladies found pillowcases at Goodwill and other thrift stores and repurposed them into napkins.
Each had a tag that featured the word lemon in various languages.
Check out more photos of this lemony fresh party here.
Lovely Paper Blog features an easy tutorial on creating a pleated photo frame. These make a great piece of decor for an engagement party or shower.
Slide in momentos of the couple, photos and the invitation to create interest and depth to your decor. Send it home with the couple at the end of the night as a gift.
What do you do with this?
add some spray paint.... and get.....
Whiffle ball bouquet! I love it because it's a bit thicker and more ruffle edged than a pom. Whiffle balls and coffee filters found at the dollar store!

I ran across this seashell garland at In My Own Style and thought it would be great for a luau or beach party. Head over to see a great tutorial on how to make this easy garland from raffia and these:
These garlands would be great draping on the front of your food table or behind your table with fish netting. Or they would be nice wrapped around the base of a cake. So many options!

What little girl wouldn't be thrilled with this birthday party!? Inspired by Paris, lavender and some beautiful damask thrown in, this party is striking and has incredible details!
Click on the photos to see the details up close.
The main table featured a candy buffet. I'll go on record as saying, as I have many times, that the overall look is enhanced 100 times by adding a matching backdrop. Use paper, fabric, a sheet.. something that ties in your color scheme because let's face it, most people do not have a wall that matches their party concept.
This party, by Autumn, features this beautiful Eiffel Tower replica that she MADE by using dowel rods. Wow. I love the silhouette of her daughter and the Eiffel Tower suckers in the milk glass.
handmade cupcake toppers featuring the Eiffel Tower & chandelier images along with her daughter's name and age, plus her daughter was given the top cake to enjoy by herself.
Lavender cotton candy via Kroger. As Autumn warns, cotton candy melts quickly in open air, but wow, is it beautiful on the table before doing so!
Moving on to the drink table featuring custom straw flags and water bottle labels
The straw flags say "quench" in french
And beautifully monogrammed cookies!
Head over to Autumn's blog to see more. She has great tips and tutorials on how she put together this beautiful soiree'!
These streamers create gentle movement in the breeze and are made from items found at the Dollar Tree.
The poles are actually bamboo stakes normally used in gardening. These are green 5 ft stakes and are $1 for a package of 6 or so. Spray paint those the color of your choice. I used white.
Right now, most Dollar Tree stores have rolls of satin ribbon in stock. I chose red, white and blue. $1 per roll. Cut long pieces of each color and hot glue one end to the top of the stake.
These can be placed anywhere... line your driveway, place them at the corners of your patio, stand them up in sand filled pots on your porch, etc. Use any colors you want for any occasion. These would be great for a bridal shower, graduation in school colors or child's birthday in primary colors!
One sprig of beautiful blooms from an outside bush held by a chemistry beaker. Yes, that's a pyrex chemistry beaker. It's simple and you can create a pop of color easily as it only holds a couple stems.
Pyrex beaker at Goodwill. $.49. Another example of thinking outside of the box when you shop.
Next week, I'll show the perfect Fourth of July use for inexpensive goodwill mason jars.
Know what I love about it? It's simple! Anyone can do it!
Just make a rectangle cake and cut two angles into it.
Sprinkle some graham cracker "dirt" on home plate and it's done!
This cake was just one part of a fabulous baseball party thrown by Beth of Custom Creations.
Visit her blog to see all the cute details!
This cake isn't JUST for children. What about a World Series Party? Or a tailgate for a college game? Or a cute groom's cake?
