It's that time of year.... peeps everywhere! A sugary temptation in a rainbow of colors! Adored by many and yet too sweet for most adults consumption, I find in asking.
So you can still put the peeps to great use in celebrating the season by giving them a home on a wreath.
I had originally seen this idea on another blog and thought I'd venture out and make my own.
Here's the how to:
For this rectangle wreath, I used one 8 X 10 diploma frame from the dollar store.
I bought the one with the flat unfinished wood. Unfinished wood is easier for the glue to adhere to.
Unwrap the frame and take out the glass and backing and whatever cute photo came inside. LOL
You don't want to cover up or smash any of your precious peeps on the wreath, so you'll want to attach the ribbon under the peeps. Hot glue a long piece of ribbon of your choice. Always go longer than you think you'll need. You can always cut it down.
For this wreath, I used 3 and a half packages of peeps. These are the double packages which contain 10 peeps each. They are $0.98 for one box at Walmart.
Tip: Open all the peeps and let the air get to them for a few hours before starting this project. The air hardens the peeps and makes them a) not as likely to melt with the hot glue and b) harder and therefore easier to glue on and place.
From there, hot glue the peeps on all sides.
Tip: Don't glue the peeps on individually. Glue the whole 5 peep row at a time. Leave them attached. If you don't, you'll end up seeing the white of the marshmellow on the sides.
Tip: You will inevitably have to shorten a row of peeps to finish a side. You want to leave the outside corner of the wreath untouched and perfect - and not obvious you ripped off one peep to make it work. Therefore, cut off the peep that will be closest to the inside of the row of the wreath. That way, the white marshmellow won't show when you press it against the already positioned peeps.
That's it! Easy and inexpensive!
You can also do a round wreath and also make it a fuller wreath by putting on 2 or more rows of peeps.
Your choice! It is easier, however to use the flat wreath forms instead of the typical floral wreath.
Sidenote: This would be a cute baby shower theme. Peeps!
Happy Peeping!

OMG what a cute idea with the wreath! I absolutely hate the taste of peeps, but I love them now for sure! I think that is going to have to be my craft project this weekend!
