Another decorative idea for the holidays. This idea and photos were from a 1999 Southern Living Christmas idea book.
Make a candy dish by doing the following:
Buy a small paint can with a lid. You can pick these up at craft stores or paint stores for around $1.
Glue on candy canes. Notice these are still in wrapper to keep bugs and pets away.
When you're finished gluing on the candy canes, fill the center with your candy of choice.
Tip: if you leave the lid on the can, you won't have to fill the whole can with candy and it will pile nicely.
Makes a great hostess gift by wrapping in cellophane!
Another good use for these WITHOUT the lid would be for a child's table and include straws or wrapped silverware. Think of TALL items that could stick out nicely from the top.
I have always loved peppermint sticks. Not to eat, but to decorate with. They are just so... Christmas-y :-)
