Yesterday, I showed you how to make faux peppermints. And now I'll show you how I made large candy canes for my holiday display.
I started with a couple cardboard rolls from wrapping paper. These are the cheaper rolls that aren't solid. They unroll. If you don't have those, any roll will work.
The benefit of the cheaper rolls is that you can cut them in half to create more rolls.
Simply unroll it and cut right down the middle. This really helps if you need several "candy canes" for an arrangement.
Next up... spray paint the rolls white. I was surprised that the rolls really soak up paint.
After they dry, wrap red electrical tape around the roll at a slant like a candy cane.
(Red electrical tape is found in the electrical section of Lowes/Home Depot and is around $3 per roll.)
Here it is! Finished candy canes! Gather them in vases or urns for a bouquet!
