As a host, you want to spend more time with your guests and less time in the tedious process of getting the meal on the table. I have a few simple reminders on grilling when hosting guests.
1. Have the grill fired up and already cranking out the food before guests arrive. There's nothing like the smell of a bbq and your guests will love arriving to the smell of a summertime. Not only does it smell great, but it builds atmosphere. A bbq creates an easy, relaxed and casual atmosphere. Plus firing it up early also lets guests know that not only are we eating soon, but it's fresh and fabulous.
2. Grill as much of the meal as you can. Select all meats that you can grill. Even veggie burgers. Even fish. Maybe even have a do it yourself pizza station for the kids and grill the pizzas. Grill your sides... corn, asparagus, potatoes in foil and even a dessert option like banana smores on the grill. Grilling as much as you can keeps things centralized and you're not rushing all around the kitchen. And, in the heat of summer, keeps you from using the stove/oven. Streamline everything!
3. My biggest tip is to cook enough for leftovers. When you've thrown a party, there's nothing better than having yummy leftovers when the host is tired. Make enough to last a few days, even. Take advantage of bbq weather and cook ahead. Save yourself by creating some built in meals for a couple days. Serve already grilled meats and just add sides. Yummy and easy.
These are just a few of my tips for grilling while also being the host. I would love if you would share your tips with me! One of my lucky readers who answers below will win a $25 Sears Gift Card!
