That's my son, Keaton, about to nail me with a snowball on the snow day we enjoyed Monday. We live in a neighborhood packed with children and yet he was the only out for most of the day. I was really surprised.
And much later, while we were enjoying hot chocolate and drying out, I was thinking we should have knocked on doors and had a Snow Day party!
Of course, we knew a couple days before of the weather forecast and it would've been fun to put something together for the neighborhood children.

This birthday party from Becky of From Rookie to Rockstar has adorable details centered around the movie CARS. CARS is so big with little boys right now so I'm thrilled to share with you this party as inspiration to many parents who may be wondering how to pull it off.
First up, the invitations. I love how she had an invitation made as well as another insert that explained what activities to expect. That REALLY builds excitement!
She borrowed tires from a local shop to use as the entryway to the party!
Favors were toolboxes for each child to take home filled with fun Cars themed items.
Look at this! She made cars out of cardboard for each child attending! Later than put them on for a race.
Also, she created a large Lightning McQueen prop. The children were able to play "pit crew". The children were able to add oil, turn the bolts on the tires, wash the windows, etc. They loved it!

It's time to do some prep work for your Halloween gatherings! I like to start early on creating new pieces for every occasions. The earlier you start, the more time you have to play around with your design and placement and fill any holes you may have.
Tammy of She Wears Flowers gives a great tutorial on how to make a spider plate. You just need a plate, a bowl or stand, some pipe cleaners, googling eyes and glue. This is a great elevation piece for your holiday table!
Don't forget, you may be able to find the plate and bowl/stand at Goodwill. BUT.. if you are planning on using this for food, you should not get something and plan to spray paint. Goodwill/Thrift items would be perfect to spray paint if you're using this piece to stack favors, pumpkins or other non-edibles.
