This post is dedicated to my Orlando friend, Jessica, who self admittedly, has been stalking my blog waiting to see what I did with these... remember these? The mystery is over! This one's for you, Jess!
I talked about these shoes in this post. and at the time I had plans to use them in a gift I was making for someone. Well, that gift ended up going in a different direction BUT here's another use for those shoes!
First, I'll say that those shoes were not my size. Not even close, so don't feel badly that I cut off the buckles. Second, as you'll notice, I found them at Goodwill and actually got the pair for $2.50. If you know anything about actual rhinestone buckles, you know that you can't get a pair of those for $2.50.
So here's what I ended up doing with one of them...
The urn was actually a Goodwill find as well. When I bought it, it was white and cracked and definitely worse for wear. Add a little black spray paint and it was brand new!
The beauty of buckles? You can run ribbon through them and add them as a decorative touch to anything.. presents, wedding bouquets, headbands, etc.
For this one, I ran a wide white satin ribbon through and secured it with hot glue. Now, for the purpose of this photo, I added a red paper pom on the top, but imagine this with a ball of red carnations or roses. Very striking!
Here is the buckle up close:
I love it! I wish I would've had them for my wedding several years ago which featured red, white and black as the colors. Or wouldn't this be nice at Christmas or Valentine's Day?
I think I may use the other buckle on a photo frame. Wouldn't that be nice?
Next time you're in Goodwill, don't pass up the shoes! You never know what you'll find that you can reuse into something fabulous!
